The Job

So, I just landed a temporary job as a Wildlife Technician for the United States Forest Service. The job starts on April 16, and lasts for 100 working days. My duty station is in Boulder, CO, which means I have only have a couple of weeks to pack up my stuff and head west for my stint in the woods. I'm filled with nervous excitement. I've had field jobs before, but never for this long and definitely not at 10,000 feet elevation. I've been told that the job duties will consist mostly of bird surveys and vegetation surveys, with maybe some boreal toad surveys and some office work. I've created this blog so that you can follow me in my adventures. So come with me! Let's see what kind of crazy adventures I'll have! Hopefully the good kind of adventures, like observing animals in the wild that I've never seen before, not the bad kind of adventures, like being attacked by hungry cougars. But if that happens, I will blog about it too!

You'll have to let me know if you react to elevation--I found out doing research for my Master's that my sea-level acclimated body does not like elevation. I would be dizzy for 3 days (with killer headaches) everytime I went out to Montana. Not good for hiking.
